It was 5 minutes!! They let me know a possible issue and I made some adjustments and now, in the words of the great inventor Wallace, "Everything is under control!". alphaMELTS software is available in compiled executable form, for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. I emailed Automounter support and they replied in 5 minutes! Admittedely it was about midnight here in the UK and, them being in NZ, it was probably getting close to knock-off time but still. The current version is 1.9 posted on August 30th, 2018. In addition, after the recent Mojave update, my NFS shares all broke. In addition my mounts are just a lot happier, I have not experienced any of the same issues I did with my homebrew Applescript. I eventually found Automounter, after a pretty deep and intensive session of Google-fu late one night, and I'm happy to report it made everything so much simpler. Even after all this it was buggy, I'd be constantly having to switch between SMB and NFS due to glitchiness, slowdowns, and random disconnects. This meant having to learn the basics of the language as well as some pretty technical stuff I didn't want to know in the first place. I resorted to writing my own Applescript in order to do it. It makes the mounting process so much simplerįor ages I've been wrestling with trying to get my NAS shares to quietly (without having to click alerts or minimise windows) mount on boot. I want to just be able to type them out.Īnyway, still useful software for most SMB mounting needs, and recommended for that use case at least. The current dropdown system is OK, but isn't suitable for all the many mount options that exist for network mounts, especially NFS. This could be hidden under an 'advanced/expert' tab or something. Especially as Automounter has a 'hide mount' option, preventing the mount appearing under my Devices, which is really annoying when I have dozens of NFS mounts.ĭeveloper, please add a way to specify any arbitrary mount options for all mounts - but especially NFS - and my review will be an immediate 5 star. If there could be a way to fully specify all available NFS mount options - soft, async, NFS version (eg vers=4), etc - then this would be a really nice option for me. I hoped to also use it to mount a few NFS shares, but unfortunately the lack of available options prevents me from doing that. I purchased this primarily to auto-mount SMB shares from my NAS, and it does a good job of that. Very helpful - but needs some more options, especially for NFS
